Volunteer with U.P. Rowing

U.P. Rowing is a 100% volunteer-run organization. From coaching and safety, to events, equipment, and communications, everything we do is made possible by members and supporters who generously give their time and talents.

Volunteering with U.P. Rowing is a great way to:

  • Support rowing in the Upper Peninsula
  • Learn new skills (on and off the water)
  • Meet fellow rowers and community members
  • Help keep rowing accessible, safe, and fun for all
  • Share the load of running the club

Whether you have a few hours a season or want to take on a larger role, there’s a place for you at our club.

Volunteer Opportunities & Committees

U.P. Rowing offers many ways to get involved through committees and hands-on roles. No rowing experience is required for many of these opportunities—just a willingness to help and collaborate.

U.P. Rowing Committees

Volunteers can serve on one or more of the following committees:

  • Adult Learn to Row
  • Coaching
  • Communications
  • Equipment & Facility
  • Fund Development
  • Logowear
  • Membership
  • NMU Collegiate Program
  • Policy
  • Regatta
  • Safety
  • Sculling
  • Volunteer Coordination
  • Youth Learn to Row

Each committee plays an important role in supporting club operations, programs, and events throughout the year. If you’re already a U.P. Rowing member and you’re interested in joining a committee, please reach out to us at row.marquette@gmail.com.

Volunteer Opportunities & Committees

If you enjoy being on the water, U.P. Rowing also relies on trained volunteers to support rowing activities and ensure safety.

Opportunities include:

  • Launch Drivers – operate safety launches during practices and events
  • Coxswains – steer boats, support crews, and promote safe, effective rowing
  • Trailer Drivers – move our boats in and out of storage seasonally and drive them to Teal Lake for the Iron Oars Regatta

Training is provided for these roles, and they are essential to keeping our programs running smoothly.
