Iron Oars Regatta – August 22nd, 2026

We have hosted 15 annual regattas on beautiful Teal Lake in Negaunee, MI. After a 2-year break due to COVID, we returned with an exhibition event on Lake Superior in 2023. Since 2024, we have been back at Teal Lake. U.P. Rowing is hosting its 17th annual Iron Oars Regatta Scrimmage on the east end of Teal Lake on August 22nd, 2026.

The events will include rowers from our local community club and other clubs from around the region. A variety of races will be offered, racing the 1000-meter course head-to-head in a sprint race. Spectators will be able to watch the action for free. Bring a chair and a pair of binoculars and catch the action!

Registration

If you are a U.P. Rowing member, you can register for our annual Iron Oars Regatta via TeamSnap. If you are a team from another rowing club that would like to compete, please contact our club president, Betsy Dank, at us at b.j.dank@gmail.com.

While there is no entry fee to participate in the Iron Oars Regatta, we’re inviting friends and supporters to help us cover venue costs, refreshments, and other regatta essentials. Every gift—big or small—helps keep the day welcoming, fun, and memorable for everyone. Thank you for your support! We appreciate you.

Parking

Parking for the Iron Oars Regatta is in the Lakeview Elementary School parking lot directly across from the Teal Lake Public Beach. For directions to the school, click here. Boat parking is available at the race site, and please ensure that you do not block other vehicles with your trailers as you park; teachers are often working in their classrooms over the weekend, and we want to be respectful guests as they share their space with us. For any questions, please contact us at row.marquette@gmail.com.

Where To Stay

If you are an out-of-town rowing team, please be sure to book your accommodations well in advance. Marquette is a summer tourist destination for the region and can be quite busy on the weekends, with hotels and Airbnbs in the area fully booked. We recommend the following places to stay:
